We just got hit last night with a "surprise" tropical storm -- Claudette -- which emerged in the Gulf early Sunday and hit Fort Walton Beach in the middle of the night. There's also Hurricane Bill, but he's projected to stay in the Atlantic rather than heading into the Gulf of Mexico. Whew. Tropical Storm Ana was a concern a few days ago -- projected to hit our area right around our due date -- but she's been downgraded to a tropical depression at this point and might not pose the threat she did a few days ago.
With the full force of hurricane season upon us, it looks like this baby might have an eventful entrance into the world no matter when he decides to do it!
Ways to track our storms:
- Weather.com
- WESH (Orlando TV station; use the "select a storm" drop-down menu below the graphic.)
- Northwest Florida Daily News -- updated information from our local paper.
- Fort Walton Beach weather, via Weather.com -- includes storm warnings specific to our town, if one has been spotted by the National Hurricane Center.
- National Hurricane Center -- includes tracking information and official updates on all storms forming in the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico.
